News from the sludge metal cauldrons of the South… two brutal bands have brewed an escape route. Midmourner and Thunderchief are pairing up for a fast track U.S. tour onslaught.
Calling all lovers of loud – Midmourner (Birmingham, AL) and Thunderchief (Richmond, VA) have mashed heads and confirmed a tour across the U.S., from North Carolina to Oregon this Spring. Kicking off on April 13th at The Odditorium in Asheville NC, these gents are slinging the sludge for two weeks across the Midwest and Pacific Northwest.
Thunderchief is sole brutality with one man, one guitar, and 25-speakers, bringing you on a droned assault of 1000-watt sonic doom from Rik Surly. Touring in support of Thunderchief’s latest release ‘Witchduck‘, which was revealed via Bandcamp today, April 7th. (Special note – all Thunderchief sales to benefit the Senior Dog Wellness & Foster Program of Richmond, VA.)
Midmourner is a four-man mass of misery, muck, and metal. With Shane (vocals), Bobbie (guitar), Matt (bass), and Rick (drums), these ‘Bama boys are ready to riff your face off with some ‘Subterranean Dopesick Blues‘. Their self-released début EP/CD ‘Adorned In Fear And Error‘ was remastered and re-released on Swamp Metal Records in 2016. Midmourner was back in the studio last Fall to record their follow-up, entitled ‘Days Akin To Injury‘.
I should (if all goes well) be attending their kick-off date on April 13th in North Carolina at The Odditorium. Looking forward to experiencing in person more of the loud and grimy side of that Southern crushing music. In addition to the April run of shows, Midmourner also has an appearance at the Stark Fest 2017 event in early June.
