Seattle, Washington sludgemongers Old Iron have returned with their sophomore outing, “Lupus Metallorum“, released today (Friday, Aug. 18) via the Good To Die Records label.
If you know anything about Old Iron (aka Jesse Roberts, Jerad Shealey, and Trent McIntyre) then you know they create some intensely powerful music. Sure, it is a doom and sludge extravaganza but it contains some nicely enticing melodic nuances as well.
‘Lupus Metallorum’ is not afraid to explore and it goes carousing into revealing moments of psych and groove at times. Where the band’s February 2014 debut ‘Cordyceps‘ was more in touch with the drone-ier side of doom, the new record is a different story altogether.
