Vattnet is streaming its upcoming self-titled album for New Damage Records in advance of its release this Friday, September 15th.
Vattnet is a progressive metal band hailing from New Hampshire. Originally conceived as a post-black metal band under the moniker Vattnet Viskar, they have recently transformed their sound (and name) to be more in tune with progressive and post-metal acts like Rosetta, Intronaut, and The Ocean.
Band guitarist Chris Alfieri helped update those who are unaware of the band’s latest transformation with the following:
“This record is gonna feel like such a staggering departure for a lot of people. Honestly, to us, it was the direction we were heading in all along, with or without harsh vocals. Why not shorten the name and have a fresh start all together? To say it’s not as heavy and dark would be a complete lie, but we definitely take some chances in the other direction as well.
The record thematically has threads that oscillate between personal experience and looking through the lens of the larger experience of humankind recently… which has been grim, but at least we’re all in it together. To me, the record sounds like anxiety, paranoia, apathy, exhaustion, and loss rolled into one, but with a touch of relentless hope that helps you get out of bed in the morning, or early afternoon.”
This early stream follows the band’s recent Official Video première for the song “Spun” which is also included below. Find more Vattnet on Bandcamp.
