Stone Temple Pilots (aka STP) have finally revealed the identity of their new vocalist along with a new song featuring him, “Meadow“.
He is none other than former X-Factor contestant Jeff Gutt and he, along with Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo, and Eric Kretz, really seems to capture the essence of the band’s early sound.
That sound, of course, was delivered by original vocalist Scott Weiland who eventually exited the band, and passed away in 2015. STP returned in time with new frontman Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), who himself passed away back in July of this year.
According to a press release, “Meadow” will also appear on the band’s new album, due out in spring 2018. In a statement, Stone Temple Pilots’ Dean DeLeo said,
“We wanted someone who would not only do our earlier songs justice, but would also write new songs and carve out a different path forward with us. It took some time, but we found our guy.”
