Guitarist Marc Rizzo, best known for his place in such current bands as Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, Dead By Wednesday, and others (along with his former, Ill Nino) will release a new solo album in March.
‘Rotation‘ will arrive March 30th via Combat Records /EMP Label Group /Amped in North America, and Combat / SPV in Europe. It will be the latest in a string of prior solo albums from the revered guitarist known for his low-end riffs, with thrash-intensive leads and heavy Latin flavor.
Produced by Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Hatebreed, Soulfly, Rob Zombie, Chimaira), and featuring cover art by Melody Myers (Escape The Fate), ‘Rotation‘ is a blistering showcase of Rizzo’s pummeling eclectic diversity, showcased on album tracks including “Spectral Intensities”, “Thrash Boogie”, and title track “Rotation”.
Check out an album teaser featuring “Spectral Intensities” below.
Rizzo, who has played on every Soulfly album since joining the band in 2004, also joined Cavalera Conspiracy, the side project of Sepultura co-founders, brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera, in 2007. He has since performed on all Cavalera Conspiracy releases, but it was in Soulfly that he connected with bassist Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) who also contributed to several of the band’s releases.
That connection resulted in Rizzo’s aligning with Ellefson’s EMP Label Group‘s relaunch of Combat Records for the release of ‘Rotation‘. That, and the fact that Rizzo is also a part-time guitarist for Combat label-mates Dead By Wednesday (first appearing on the band’s 2016 EMP release, ‘The Darkest Of Angels’).
Rizzo commented on the partnership, saying:
“I spent a couple years talking to David (Ellefson) and Thom (Hazaert) about releasing Rotation and when the COMBAT thing came up it just really felt right. I have known both David and Thom, literally for the better part of 2 decades, and I’m really excited to have such a killer team putting their stamp on my record.”
