One of heavy psych rock / progressive metal’s more phenomenal bands, in my opinion, is the L.A.-based Ancestors. Today arrives news that the band has signed with the eclectic acts-enhanced label Pelagic Records and the band will be releasing an album in 2018.
That all in and of itself is the most wonderful news as it has been five years since Ancestors last studio output, ‘In Dreams And Time’. In that period, anxiety and anticipation over the band’s eventual return as reached an all-time high and was recently addressed by the band.
Guitarist/vocalist Justin Maranga comments:
“We’re honored to be joining the Pelagic Records family. We’re excited to start the next chapter of ANCESTORS and we believe that Pelagic is the perfect label to partner with on this adventure.”
Ancestor‘s as-yet-untitled new full-length will see release this summer. Stay tuned for further details but until that time, check out a new song from Ancestors, “Gone“, via the Spotify embed below. The song hails from a recent Pelagic Records sampler release, ‘MMXVIII‘, and is expected to be on their upcoming album.
