Greenbeard were busy guys this past year of 2017. They toured in the Spring, put out a new release ‘Lödarödböl‘ in July, toured most of the summer, fall, and winter, including several festivals thrown in the mix.
In fact, this early on in 2018, they already have more festival and show dates confirmed, as well as a vinyl reissue of ‘Lödarödböl’ set for an EU release with Kozmik Artifactz (prior Greenbeard updates here). They’re seriously freaking busy.
Buddy Hachar, the maniacal drummer for Greenbeard, was not too strapped for time that he didn’t take a few moments out of his schedule of insanity to throw us his list of favorite releases from 2017. For all his nonstop work, be it with his band, his business with Boss Tweed Backline, and generally being a lunatic Texan, Buddy is a pretty easy-going, relaxed cat. If you don’t believe me, have a listen below to ‘Lödarödböl’ after you check out his list. It’s full of heavy rolling psych, space rock heaving beauty, sure to calm your noggin.
RiffRelevant.com presents to you Buddy Hachar’s Top Ten of 2017! While they are intended in no particular order, I listed them in the order given:
It was hard enough to narrow this down to 10 – let alone assign a numerical order. These records are listed in no particular hierarchy.
Ulver – ‘The Assassination of Julius Caesar‘
Queens of the Stone Age – ‘Villains‘
Wolves in the Throne Room – ‘Thrice Woven‘
Elder – ‘Reflections of a Floating World‘
Destroyer of Light – ‘Chamber of Horrors’
Many thanks to Buddy Hachar for sharing his favorites for the year, as well as all of Greenbeard for sharing their music with the rest of us. – Leanne
