Everything about the entity from New Orleans known as EYEHATEGOD embodies the utmost in abrasive sonic sludge. It doesn’t matter where you are on this planet, if you’re in the musical underground, you immediately recognize the name.
You more than recognize it, really, you know the band is the living equivalent of the middle finger to any and all things. With volatile hostility impacted into the very fiber of this band, and with an abundant “fuck you” punk rock attitude, EYEHATEGOD is a true monument to heaviness.
With over three decades of activity under their collective belts, EYEHATEGOD is just as severely savage in 2018 as they were at their start back in 1988. Currently, a four-piece comprised of vocalist Mike IX Williams, guitarist Jimmy Bower, bassist Gary Mader, and drummer Aaron Hill, EHG continues to decimate on album and stage both.
Being a longtime fan of EYEHATEGOD myself, and having seen them countless times over the years, I was beyond excited to recently catch them live once again. Out on the road with NYHC icons CRO-MAGS, I caught up with Mike IX at their recent stop at The Hideaway in Johnson City, TN.
