They may hail from Manitou Springs, Colorado but you would never know it by listening to the music of AKHENATEN.
The newly-released effort from the brotherly duo of Jerred and Wyatt Houseman (both also of Helleborus), ‘Golden Serpent God‘, was released this past week through Cimmerian Shade Recordings. The music it contains is uniquely insightful, intricately crafted, black-tinged Death Metal.
We are streaming the album at this time, its contents are very much influenced by the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, and Middle Eastern cultures. For their third album, AKHENATEN utilized a variety of Ancient Egyptian and Mesopotamian instruments and songwriting structures. The results are an incredibly deep, heavily brutal record, one offset with cohesive additions of synths, programming, and other elements too.
