Long-running underground metalcore mavens ZAO has teamed up with YASHIRA on a new split 7″ EP to be issued via Mind Over Matter Records.
Riff Relevant is hyped to share both band’s tracks from the recording, the first is a new song from ZAO titled “Hide From The Light“. This is the first new music released from ZAO‘s recent recording sessions for the band’s next full-length album, slated for a mid-2019 release.
The lyrical subject matter within “Hide From The Light” addresses a rapidly growing modern dilemma, people’s addiction to technology. ZAO vocalist Dan Weyandt elaborates:
“‘Hide From The Light’ is a reference to the light beaming out of our handheld electrical devices and that light’s ability to manipulate our thoughts and actions personally, as well as society as a whole, via digital social platforms.”
YASHIRA‘s contribution, “Led To Ache“, finds the Floridian heavyweights crushing things with a punishing battery of post-metal hardcore and sludge. With an incessant discharge of grooves, rapid fire blast beats, and unpredictable time changes, the song sees YASHIRA‘s sonic stock rocketing upward.
The ZAO / YASHIRA Split 7″ EP will arrive digitally from Mind Over Matter Records on September 21st, with vinyl pre-order launching one day earlier (9/20) HERE.
