Brighton, U.K. progressive rock / alt metal three-piece MILK WHITE THROAT return in 2020 with a new single and video “Sleepless” (filmed at Camden Town’s The Underworld), from their upcoming three track EP ‘Hierarchy,‘ set to be released September 18th, 2020.
Blurring the lines between genres, MILK WHITE THROAT have never been content with pigeonholing themselves into one style of music. Having started out as a thrash/death metal band in the 2000s, the last decade has seen the band evolve, honing in on their individual and group strengths, whilst sticking to their guns as far as variety goes, and the three songs that make up ‘Hierarchy‘ are no different. Their most exciting, mature and melodic effort to date, progressing on from 2018 album ‘House On Fire‘.
The video for “Sleepless” is also a proud moment for the band, being the second official music video after 2015’s video for “Under Duress.” Produced by Wild Stag Studio (Fatboy Slim, Black Peaks, Toska), and filmed within the depths of London’s legendary alt / metal music venue The Underworld in Camden Town, the ethereal setting of “Sleepless” brings impactful focus to the track, the band and their musicianship.
Whilst the EP is not lyrically conceptual, the subject matter is thematically consistent. The songs represent an individual’s fragility and their attempts to reconcile themselves with the world around them, as well as the world within them, with each song representing a different perspective. Each track also showcases a different musical approach, with “Closed Eyes” kicking things off in a calmer, more melodic fashion than the band have usually elected to pursue, followed by lead-track and single “Sleepless” which early listeners have made comparisons with Deftones, closed by title track “Hierarchy,” taking the listener on a journey through a host of different sections and dynamic changes, with the frenetic tempo being the main constant.
Tracklist:
01. Closed Eyes
02. Sleepless
03. Heirarchy
2020 has been an incredibly tough year for many, and MILK WHITE THROAT are no exception. With the EP engineered and produced back in 2019, by Mark Roberts (Black Peaks, Toska, Broker, The Physics House Band), and the band braced to release with their sights set on a year of nationwide touring and new music, the unexpected arrival of Coronavirus hit and they were unable to meet as a band, then causing a six month delay to the release.
Over the years MILK WHITE THROAT have performed across a variety of venues around the U.K., including Brighton’s own Mammothfest and Concorde2, London’s Camden Underworld, and Oxford’s O2 Academy. Following the release of House of Fire, the band played a string of shows alongside bands such as Rosetta, Time the Valuator, WHORES., and are determined to add to these with the release of ‘Hierarchy‘ in 2020. Expect to find the band on tour in 2021.
‘Hierarchy‘ is due for release on September 18th and will be available on most streaming outlets, with digital download via Bandcamp. Listen and watch the first single “Sleepless“, streaming below:
