Only one and a half years after releasing its debut, tomorrow on October 9th, 2020, the Berlin-based doom metal collective, NEÀNDER will release their sophomore album, entitled ‘eremit,‘ on Through Love Records.
The ‘eremit‘ album is the follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed, self-titled debut full-length in early 2019, which was a true monument to heavy music. The band also released a substantial single ‘mãlven‘ in September 2019, which at nearly 11 minutes is most assuredly worth mentioning.
NEÀNDER recently unleashed the second single taken from ‘eremit‘ – the album’s closing track, “Atlas.” The song is an epic voyage and another perfect example of why this band is beginning to make waves in the underground metal circuit.
“With all the ups and downs – within rhythm and chord progression – breaks and mood changes; it might be the most experimental song of the album.” says guitarist Jan Korbach. “I really like this fact because the track may lead into our future as an artist. The song has to be perceived as one with ‘Clivina’ (the song that leads towards ‘Atlas’). With over 14 minutes this is also our longest track (until now). It’s truly a marathon, not a sprint.”
The instrumental heavyweights, which formed in 2017, feature members of blackgazers Ånd, hardcore punks Patsy O’ Hara, Berlin sludgers Earth Ship, and live band musicians from indie outfit Casper. The band cuts a dark and desolately bleak crystal playing with variations of light and shade. With their upcoming magnum opus, NEÀNDER continues to evolve their very own blend of heavy music that draws on musical elements of doom, ambient and black metal.
The ‘eremit‘ album was produced and mixed by Jan Oberg (Earth Ship / Grin) at the Hidden Planet Studio in Berlin, Germany, and the drums were recorded by Kadavar’s Christoph Bartelt. The album was mastered by Magnus Lindberg of Cult of Luna, who reveals:
“It was pure joy working on this very powerful and yet dynamic album trying to get the music forward in the most flattering way. Highly recommended album!”
